Building Brand Internally

The Challenge

In fiercely competitive markets where differentiation can be difficult to articulate, employees often find themselves in a rut. Despite Apex Learning's digital curriculum solutions being on or above par with competitors in terms of innovation and effectiveness, we lacked a compelling narrative. Internally, instilling belief in our own story was paramount.

The Solution

At the core of every robust brand lies employee engagement and conviction. Recognizing the intrinsic connection between brand and culture, we kickstarted Apex Learning's brand refresh with an internal culture campaign, crafted in collaboration with our HR team. This campaign aimed to cultivate belief in our innovation, particularly evident in our new product launch. Elevating belief demanded tangible evidence, a steady drumbeat of communication, an internal rallying cry, and a dedication to listening and sharing stories to fortify our culture and foster a storytelling mindset.


Dubbed 'Be Bold', this campaign set out to ignite staff enthusiasm for the company, our impactful work, and the lives we touch, while also acknowledging the collaborative efforts essential for success. Breaking down silos became imperative.


The campaign's multifaceted approach included regular reinforcements, integrated meetings and events, a personalized letter from our CEO, an alignment of mission and values with our rallying cry, internal communications featuring client triumphs and student achievements, themed gifts, contests, celebratory gatherings, and an internal website facilitating team interaction.

The Results

The internal campaign yielded remarkable success. Engagement soared on our internal website, attendance at weekly enablement meetings surged, and employee retention rates climbed as individuals recognized the wealth of opportunities within Apex Learning. 


Remarkably, the campaign's impact transcended the workplace, resonating even in personal hardships. One poignant example is captured in the accompanying photo, taken after an employee's home was ravaged by a forest fire. Despite adversity, he shared his resilience and boldness with all employees, embodying the spirit of our campaign.
